MARKETING MANIA
HITS THE METRO-PLEX
Just when you thought marketers couldn’t
come up with anything new they surprise us with
more product hook-ups. Now is the time to think
of new tie-ins with popular culture. It seems
the only way to get a consumer’s attention
is to marry your product with a celebrity or a
media venture. Hooking up with movie releases
is a great idea and Hats are the perfect product
for promoters and licensing agents. With all the
talk of God and his (or her) message, it’s
a natural that someone came up with the idea to
license Da Vinci merchandise. Here’s the
scoop:
“A
Canadian company has exclusive distribution rights
for items related to the upcoming movie The Da
Vinci Code, which opens May 19.
Gem-Sen, a leading Canadian distributor and manufacturer
of licensed products, will design and manufacture
a complete collection of clothes, headwear, travel
and leisure bags, barware, photo albums and stationery
for the movie version of Dan Brown's bestselling
novel.
The gear will be sold at Sears and at independently
owned retail stores across Canada and will incorporate
details of Da Vinci's paintings and sketches.
