DORFMAN PACIFIC EXPANDS LICENSING ARRANGEMENT (AND STYLES) WITH CHRISTYS'

Dorfman Pacific has extended their arrangement with British hatter Christys. The Christys’ hats and caps include: deerstalkers, trilbys, rexes, a bowler, English Ivys and 8/4s in fur felt and check wools. The fur felt hats will continue to be manufactured in the UK.

Genuine Ecuadorian Panama hats and linen ivy caps will be added to the collection. Wholesale prices for the Panamas - available in 10 styles - will be from $48 to $95; the fur felts are $82.50 to $135; and the Ivys and rexes are $14 to $35.

Christys' hats go back to 1773, when Miller Christy and fellow Quaker Joseph Storrs set up shop in London. They prospered in the late 1800s and the Christy factory in Stockport, England had twelve acres and more than 3,000 employees. Christys' had many prominent customers — among them the Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters) at the Tower of London. In 1966 the company became part of Associated British Hat Manufacturers Ltd. Christys' felt hats are now manufactured at a plant not far from their original Stockport works.

"Our experience with Christys' has been excellent from the start," said Doug Highsmith, Dorfman Pacific's President and CEO. "We look forward to maintaining it for years to come, and to satisfying the constant demand for quality and styling of the existing brand. We also hope to attract new customers to the Christys’ label with our new styles and fibers.”
