If what goes around comes around then Hat World
and Genesco will surely be rewarded.
For the second year in a row 70 Genesco and
Hat World execs (including the CEO Hal Pennington)
went to the Francis Scot Key elementary school
to fit students with new shoes and hats. The program,
called Cold Feet, Warm Shoes, is part of the retailers
outreach program. Also part of the good deed event
were Indianapolis Colts players.
Genesco President Bob Dennis, Hat World President
Ken Kocher and Hat World Founder and CEO Glenn
Campbell (and 70 other company volunteers) staged
a mock shoe and hat store in the elementary school
gymnasium.
Cold Feet, Warm Shoes was started by Genesco
17 years ago in Nashville, Tenn. Its purpose was
to provide new shoes to the needy – and
to empower them with a choice of styles and a
proper fit. Now that Hat World is part of the
Genesco family the program has expanded to Indianapolis.
Since the program's inception over 35,000 pairs
of shoes have been donated.
According to United Way of Central Indiana, more
than 64,000 children in the metropolitan Indianapolis
area live in poverty -- enough to more than fill
the RCA Dome.
THIS IS A GOOD WAY TO KEEP GOOD COMMUNITY
RELATIONS AND GOOD KARMA.
Hopefully more of you will find it
in your hearts to fill the needs of those less
fortunate than you! |
