GUESS WHO’S
EXPORTING HATS?
Chinese customs officials reported that in the
first 11 months of 2005 China exported $1.324
billion worth of hats and caps, up 22.92 percent
from last year. 79.16 percent of Chinese mainland
headwear was exported to the United States, the
European Union, Japan, Hong Kong and Canada during
the period. China's mainland exported 31.4 percent
of its hats and caps to the United States (a 32
percent increase), 26.81 percent (21 percent increase)
to the European Union, 6.94 percent to Hong Kong
(an 11 percent drop), 10.4 percent to Japan, and
3.61 percent to Canada.
