GENESCO HAS A HEART

Genesco execs did their good deeds this holiday season. Chairman and President Hal Pennington and Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell fit homeless folks with new shoes at Genesco's Cold Feet, Warm Shoes event at a Nashville Rescue Mission. More than 80 Genesco volunteers fit more than 275 homeless guests with new shoes and hats from Hat World/Lids division.

Other philanthropic gestures from Genesco included fitting school children with shoes in a mock shoe store at a school gymnasium in Indianapolis. Volunteers Pennington, Hat World President Ken Kocher, Chief Operating Officer Glenn Campbell and Indianapolis Colts players led the volunteers in the mock shoe store event. Volunteers measured and fit third, fourth, and fifth-graders with their choice of new shoes. They also received Indianapolis Colts knit hats donated by Hat World.

Cold Feet, Warm Shoes was started by Genesco in Nashville 16 years ago to provide needy people with new shoes for the winter, and to empower them with their choice of shoe styles. It also gives them the same service paying customers receive at Genesco retail stores. Since the program's inception, more than 35,000 pairs of shoes have been donated to agencies in Nashville and across the US.

We applaud Genesco for their kind heart and generous retail spirit. What goes around comes around. What are you doing for others?
