| THE NEW RETAIL
MOTTO - HAVE IT YOUR WAY
If
you had any doubt that today’s consumer
want it their way, read on. The latest example
of this royal fitting has been sighted at Lids
on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Their “Create
your Own Unique hat” program allows customers
the luxury of dancing to their own headwear beat.
The consumer can pick their own hat style, choose
a design and embroidery detail. The ability to
create ones own style - however different –
is an important aspect of retailing today.
Let’s face it, retailers must cater to
their customer’s whims to keep them loyal.
Young people like to tell others what they want
to wear and what they want to hear (think the
iPod), and they don’t want to be told what
to do and how to do it. We’re seeing more
examples of this originality with sneaker brands
that allow consumers to design their own shoes.
Nike also just introduced a line of dance clothing
designed to give the wearer the ability to customize
her own look.
Give
your customer a way to personalize his or her
own Hat. Perhaps you can give extra hat bands
so your customer can decide what color or style
they want to wear.
This irreverence for convention has been showing
up in logos such as Skull & Bones
motifs…. |
