ALL EYES ARE ON PARIS

The best and the beautiful were sent down the runway in a fit of fashion folly for fall 06-07. Men were given the right to flash like a peacock and women were decked out in fur, frills and decadence worthy of the Royals. Both men’s and women’s couture hit a high note for its spectacular vision of the 40’s with a medieval slant that bespeaks religious overtones and gaudy sentimentalism.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll save the small stuff for another time. It’s the pictures that deserve top billing here. There were hats in many of the couture collections, which is good. If I were you (a hat manufacturer) I would go about contacting some of the non-hat fashionistas and sell your wares.

It is obvious that designers are bored with convention – they want something out-of-this-world. They must think the customer wants something outer-worldly too. And with a raging war - and a society that has its head stuck inside their palm pilots - why not indulge the senses?
