THE MEN OF MILAN SHOW OFF IN THE NAME OF FUN AND FASHION

The Girly-Man will rear his head in Milan - that is if designers have it their way this fall. Gianfranco Ferré showed oxford shoes in green, orange or two-tone leather. There were voile shirts, flower-embroidered business clothes, appliqué trims, vinyl raincoats and cinched trench coats, man-sandals and man-purses, suede hot pants and fringed hippie boots from Gucci.

Missoni went for his inner golfer in pastels, and other designers showed clam-diggers, Capri pants and short shorts. Alexander McQueen’s suits were in lightweight glen plaid with checkered piped lapels.

Prada’s short shorts looked like those worn by African hunters in bright colors. They were worn under vinyl jackets with Velcro and were worn with open-toed vinyl sandals with heavy socks.

If men follow these pied pipers of fashion, it will be an interesting year. Color is king here for fall.
