WILL OFFER A LIFESTYLE SUPPLEMENT CATERING TO
UPSCALE AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN
Vibe Magazine will publish the first issue of
V-Style this September. According to mediaweek.com
this sample of the African American population
has been “largely under- served, with men's
magazines barely touching on the style sensibilities
of African Americans.”
But things are changing….the publishers
of Vibe believe there's an untapped market for
an Urban Men's fashion magazine. In September
Vibe will debut V-Style, a stand-alone lifestyle
supplement for progressive African American men
that will cover fashion, footwear, cars and spirits.
The supplement will be poly-bagged with 200,000
copies of Vibe's October issue and mailed to Vibe's
male subscribers.
"V-Style is where they can come to learn
about fashion and accessories—what's the
right cigar, the right wine, the right books to
have in your library, not just the ones to say
you've read, but the ones you should have read
to transition from a boy to a man," said
Len Burnett, Vibe's group publisher.

people to pitch Vibe Magazine your holiday Hat
Collection. Find out the name of the fashion editor
and Assignment Editor and call them. Also send
over some hats with a nice note and some statistics
about hat sales. You can also send them pictures
of your line and perhaps a hat for the editor
to keep. Lunch also works!
