COMPANY STÜSSY HOOKS UP WITH NEW ERA CAP
COMPANY
Apparently
New Era has a cult following with the surfer set
these days. We hear that surfboard shaper and
clothier Stüssy picked New
Era caps because of quality and cooperation. “Stüssy
is rolling out a complete line of custom New Era
caps for spring because New Era allows us to have
complete control over colors, materials, stitching,
et cetera,” said Stüssy Sales Rep Bryan
Lowman Lowman. Sales of the new caps are “insane,”
he said.
“Fusing the quality and classic look of
official Major League Baseball gear with skate
logos has proven to be a winning combination for
many skate companies,” said Lowman.
According to Osiris Junior Footwear Designer
Bryan House, New Era’s popularity is tied
into current fashion trends that match footwear,
apparel, and headwear items. “A lot of people
are into matching their outfits these days,”
he says. “We’re trying to tie some
of our footwear lines in with our hats, and New
Era has been really cooperative with us in terms
of materials. If we’re using a certain print,
like houndstooth for some of our shirts and footwear,
they source out swatches to help tie the line
together. As far as minimums go, they are helping
us out with smaller orders.”
In case you have not heard of Stussy, that makes
two of us. Apparently Shawn Stussy was a local
surfboard shaper who took his signature logo from
surf equipment to T- shirts. He then sold them
along with his surf boards in Laguna Beach, California.
The legend goes that the line
expanded because of its raw and modern aesthetic.
It also combined a sporting and cultural theme
that resonated with this young hip rebellious
consumer. The Stussy street wear label was inspired
by international musicians, skaters, DJs and artists
with similar taste.
