USA TODAY TREND MILL SAYS HATS ARE THE REAL THING

Alison Maxwell, trend writer for USA Today, wrote an article called, Strawberry Shortcake, Vans, annoying hats and bocce for USATODAY.com. Here’s what she said:

Hats off…seriously

“Annoying trend of the moment: Celebrities wearing pageboy and bucket hats. Perpetual hat fan and musician Shania Twain performed at Willie Nelson's birthday bash wearing one. Model Tyra Banks donned a large hat during the premiere of America's Next Top Model. Pop singer and actress Mandy Moore — yep, you guessed it — wore a distracting hat to Movieline's Hollywood Life Magazine Young Hollywood Awards.

My question: Why would someone don such a disaster when they have a pretty face, beautiful hair and a fabulous outfit? Glamour magazine's Accessories Editor agrees.

"When I see them on celebs I feel they don't fit properly," says Rae Ann Scandroli. "I think they only look good on models in magazines."

Scandroli suggests sticking to hats for fall, and cautions: "A big don't is to wear them oversized."
