IS COMING TO A CUSTOMER NEAR YOU
Not satisfied with selling consumers everything
for their medicine closets and garages, Wal-Mart
is now focusing on the fashion customer with a
vengeance. Their “Focus On Shopper Value”
campaign includes clothing once reserved for stores
like H&M and Target (fashion without the sticker
shock). Their ads in glossy magazines look as
if they were styled by the gals at Vogue and Lucky,
which means they aim to please.
We couldn’t help but be intrigued by a
recent ad of a young hip woman donning a sequin
beret. Fashion anyone? Their latest press release
says the following: “Wal-Mart executives,
reiterating the importance of adjusting to a volatile
retail environment, said Tuesday that the company
is striving to provide consumer value through
selection, service and style, not simply low price.”
