MAKES FASHION A FLOWER POWER AFFAIR ON THE PARIS
RUNWAY
The Spring-Summer 2007 Yves Saint Laurent fashion
show in Paris took place on a 100-meter long runway
of lilacs. Creative director Stefano Pilati stood
on a purple runway at the Grand Palais.
Pilati also tapped into Parisian chic with khaki
coat-dresses and intricate violet lace dresses
with floral embroidery. “I wanted to evoke
the transition to spring, and violet, which represents
modesty. Plus the flowers also stood for deflowering,
he said.
All the hoopla was not lost on Janet Jackson,
who ended up evicting one critic from the front
row. Posh Spice Beckham and Katie Holmes were
both were left standing.
It’s tough all over – but when it
comes to fashion – it’s a real hardship.
