HIGH HATS MADE HEADWAY IN AUSTRALIA

The Flemington Races gave the public - and the headwear industry - a reason to be proud. There was even a hat made from razors. The show signaled the launch of the spring racing carnival at Federation Square.

Organizers hope that 750,000 people will attend this year's carnival. Premier Steve Bracks said the carnival would generate more than $220 million for the state economy when it ends on November 23.
