HAT CONTEST TO BE HELD AT THE LA COUNTY FAIR

Hat lovers and hat designers rejoice – there is Live Hat Contest on September 29th  at The Village on Broadway Tapestry Building at the LA County Fair. All you need to enter the contest is an application form and a $5 entry fee.

Prizes will include a couture hat offered by Eloise R. King (teacher LAUSD), a two-hour private hat making class from couture milliner Yvonne Lewis (hatzylady@aol.com). First prize is a hat making kit by Alexander & Baum/Leon Berlin. Second prize is time at a studio for hat blocking and third prize is a gift certificate from California Millinery Supply Co.

Do not send hats in advance, just fill out an application and bring your hat or hats with you to the competition. When you go to their website lacountyfair.com click on “competitions & results tab at the top of the screen. The division # is 2517. You are allowed one hat per class in each division.

Hat Contests are legendary in England, where making and wearing hats is an art form. It is good to support these local hat contests – so may the best man (or woman) win. Good luck!
