HOSPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR KNIT HATS

Arkansas Children’s Hospital officials are asking people to get out their knitting needles for the “Knitting for Noggins” Campaign. Their goal is to collect 30,000 knitted or crocheted hats by Oct.14th. Last year ACH had the first Knitting for Noggins campaign and collected more than 27,000 hand-made hats.

“We couldn’t believe the response we had from all over the United States and even two foreign countries,” said Robin Armstrong, director of volunteer services at ACH. “We were getting hats from everywhere”

Armstrong had the idea for Knitting for Noggins after watching patients leave the hospital during the cold winter months with nothing on their heads. “The idea behind Knitting for Noggins is that giving hand-knitted hats to children as they leave the hospital during winter will offer them extra warmth and make their transitions into the outdoors and their trips back to their home easier,” Armstrong said.
