GALLIANO MAKES HIS MARK ON MEN’S FASHION FOR FALL

The New York Times called his show “The Good, the Bad, the Amusing,” but we think it’s a stretch from reality. But if fashion shows are supposed to make the mundane look boring while pushing the outer limits of fashion outrageousness, then Galliano is right on target.

We thought we would show you the latest in masculinity by way of the make-up mirror. It seems that make-up artist Pat McGrath turned models’ faces into masks, smudging lipstick on their stocking-covered heads. Stephen Jones supplied the helmets and the dreadlocked hats. Galliano showed embroidered sweatshirts, while there other designers brought out bulky jackets with military symbolism.

Raf Simons showed textured and shiny fabrics, long black leather gloves and thickly woven fabrics. Fabric mixing was important as was contrast textures in one garment. Take it from me a new day is dawning for the American male.
