COUTURE HAT SHOW THIS MONTH IN DUBAI

As a prelude to the Dubai World Cup (a high stakes horse race) there will be a showcase of designer millinery at the BurJuman Centre. This very upscale shopping center is 2.8 million square feet (don’t you’re your Manolo’s), has 300 stores and is in the center of Dubai.

The exhibition, which takes place from March 20th to March 30th, will be at the mall observatory in BurJuman daily from 10 am to 10 pm.

On March 31, the 2007 BurJuman Style Stakes will give race-goers a chance to compete for prizes for Best Dressed Lady, Runner Up, Best Dressed Couple and the Milliner's Award for the Best Hat.

A collection of couture hats, headpieces and accessories will be on display at the mall, as an attempt to give race-goers a chance to buy accessories to match their race day outfit. (This is a great idea for US retailers in horse-show areas of the country).

Six milliners will be exhibiting at BurJuman during mall hours, offering fashion headwear advice, displaying their latest collections for sale and creating custom-made headpieces, fascinators and other headwear accessories for race-goers (another great idea).

Serena Lindeman, Marilena Romeo, Louise MacDonald, Sabine Pedder, Julie Mitcheson, and Karen Hamilton are scheduled to showcase their headwear as well as accessory designer Louise Harrison.
