SMALL MILLINERS
MEET TO DISCUSS AND DEMONSTRATE HEADWEAR IN PORTLAND
OREGON
We were talking to Wayne Wichern of Wayne Wichern
Millinery last month and he told us about a group
of small milliners who gather for a two-day hat
event at the end of April. Wichern has been designing
better priced woman’s hats for 20 years
and believes that hats should make a statement
for both the wearer and the designer.
“My hats are not generic, they are clever
and artistic and interesting without being over
the top. If you don’t want to be noticed,
don’t wear a hat,” he said.
Tbe group of small scale millinery designers
will meet at the end of April in Portland Oregon;
contact Wayne 650-369-4336 or wayne@waynewichernmillinery.com
for details. Last year 15 hatters met - for demonstration
skills and theater milliners showed how to make
ostrich plumes and feathers. There were blocking
demonstrations, discussions about how to help
each other and the industry. They share ideas
and design ideas.
The group will meet April 27 –
28 – 29 - Join them if you can.
How about coming to the headwear dinner this
year folks?
