THE ’08-’09
COLOR FORECAST BY THE COLOR ASSOCATION
“City
living and the performing arts inspire the palette
for Women. Deep gem tones emerald and teal contrast
with bright neons. Elegant 1930's hues in “Ensemble”
enhance the fiery orange and fuchsia in “Play”.
Unisex colors are important for the Youth market.
Metallic shades like silvery blue and copper are
good, while urban shades like lime and olive green
with muddy brown convey a 90's edginess. Cherry
red, vibrant orange and fluorescent yellow reflect
the luminous colors in hi-tech gadgets.
“Accessories for the young have become
just as much of a necessity as their clothing.
Apple added five new colorful iPods, such as hot
pink and bright orange.”
The Men’s forecast has a darkness reflective
of the current challenging times. The military
theme is seen in blackened neutrals – and
the cautious optimism was led by brights like
neon yellow, flame orange and royal blue..
In Dries Van Noten’s 2007 collection there
are hints of athleticism with yellow and red –
with contrasting textures and silhouettes exuding
energy and intelligence.
The multi-colored active wear mixes orange and
turquoise with terracotta brown, or acid yellow
and blue-gray with classic khaki.
