HATS MAKE THE SCENE IN ENGLAND

The runways were aflame with newsboy caps, berets, fedoras and spiraling cotton-candy-like hats at the Eley Kishimoto show.

Hats are in finer focus since the untimely death of eccentric British fashion editor, Isabella Blow, who discovered many designers, including milliner Philip Treacy. Blow wore artful hats faithfully, which may be the reason that everyone is thinking about hats.

On the runway at the Giles Deacon show, Stephen Jones showed skullcaps, silk toppers and a pair of kitty-cat ears dyed to match dresses. At Basso & Brooke, Jones' hats were more sculptural.
