Chanel show Miami |
Chanel’s cruise collection for '08 was
shown at the Opa-locka Executive Airport in Miami.
The show was put on by Saks Fifth Avenue for the
Jackson Memorial Foundation's Golden Angels, a
group of high-dollar benefactors.
When the Golden Angels want Chanel -- coming
out of a jet -- they get Chanel, coming out of
a jet. ''This is the 10th anniversary of the Golden
Angels, which started in my living room,'' said
Wallace, the group's society chairman. In L.A.
they did the same show with two planes and celebrities
(600 people total).
While on the subject of Miami, we asked our
roving fashion reporter Leslie Pinkus to cover
the South Beach Swimsuit Shows for us. This is
what she had to say:
THE
WEEK THAT WAS
By Leslie Pinkus
In a magical pool setting, on a balmy evening
at the Raleigh Hotel on Miami’s South Beach,
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim was launched.
Jacquelyne Love, with the help of her husband
Mike Love of the Beach Boys fame, set the mood
in Kokomo for Jacquelyne’s swimsuit line,
Bella Mar Swim and E Label. Accompanying the Beach
Boys was John Stamos on the bongos.
The week was more than just a swimwear show.
It was total resort from head to toe. Hats were
big on the scene. Bagley Mischka had the largest
variety of outrageous hats. Other designers used
brightly colored sun hats as well. What woman
doesn’t want a beautiful hat on her head
to protect herself from the sun?
Beautiful cover-ups, bags and hats were matched
up for a total look.
Trends to watch: vintage looks, the 60’s,
and Daisy Mae Styling.
Dennis Rodman was seen (wearing a hat) and Chudney
Ross (Diana’s daughter).
The poolside cabanas offered treats and gifts
between the shows. Sunsilk hairapy gave shampoo,
conditioner, styling cream and sarongs. Smashbox
makeup was doing make-overs and giving make up
samples. Havaianas did spin the wheel for a chance
to win shoes. Nivea was giving Good-bye cellulite
cream along with moisturizer.
There were 17 shows – and if you could
not fit all your goodies in your suitcase DHL
shipped them home for you for a mere $12.
