Unfortunately for Blow she was not
able to make it (suicide really does narrow down
your chances of seeing how much you are loved).
The show - called La Dame Bleue
- featured a large illustration of Blow wearing
a McQueen dress and Philip Treacy headwear being
lifted to heaven in a horse-drawn carriage.
McQueen's spring-summer 2008 collection
highlighted hats in Blow's signature look of radical
tailoring paired with outlandish Treacy hats.
According to the Sun-Herald,
“The headgear included a cluster of red
butterflies that topped a skin-tight grey wool
dress, and a glittering black lace visor with
a matching body tattoo. Many of the outfits had
a sadomasochistic edge, with wide leather belts
forcing a hand-span waist.”
“Blow famously scoffed at
practical concerns. She once showed up for a lunch
wearing antlers shrouded with a lace veil. McQueen
called Blow - who was editor- at- large of Tatler
magazine - "one of the most original and
influential people in fashion in the 20th century".
Chanel stood out from the crowd
(in Paris) with a show of stars and bows (bows
on hats are perfect for spring “08). Victoria
Beckham was in the front row in a bright green
1950s vintage dress; actress Kirsten Dunst; musician
Courtney Love; supermodel Claudia Schiffer, and
burlesque queen Dita Von Teese were there as well.
