MAGIC SHOW MELANGE

Lucky Jeans Promo Bus in front of the Magic Show at the Hilton Convention Center Progressive Streetwear at the Magic Show – The Vibes were Hot and the Music Loud (no make that deafening),

It was a mad mad world last week in Las Vegas (at the Magic Show). There were shows in the far corners of this desert land (six in all) and Hats showed up in the most unlikely places. There were celebrities selling hats, hip-hop moguls, artists and the young and hip. What was interesting about headwear this year was the creative nature of the materials and motifs. It was as if the Hat had evolved into a fashion item to be interpreted by the creator, designer and lastly…the wearer.

There were rhinestone trimmed caps, mix media boys caps, lots of funeral and skeleton themes (talk about optimism in the youth culture…forgetaboutit) plaids and prints overlaid in one garment. We also saw peace signs, madras plaids, tattoo art and retro themes.

There were young up-and-coming retailers and manufacturers – that seemed to view headwear as part fashion item and part lifestyle statement (graffiti caps worn backwards).

We took pictures for you to see – and we brought as much news as we could carry in a backpack.

We sold The 2007 Hat Life Directory at the show this year – and were happy that everyone seemed to like our take on the subject. If you would like to buy a Hat Life Directory email support@hatlife.com or order one online at hatlife.com.

By the way, we hope to hear from you – tell us what you like about this years’ book and what you want to see more of. And we want to thank all of you who contributed to – and bought - this years’ lime covered Hat Life Directory.
