The 2008 BOCA RATON FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
opens this year on February 29th and will run
through March 16th. If you haven’t been
to this amazing cultural smorgasbord then you’re
missing out on something truly wonderful.
The Festival, to be held at the Count de Hoernle
Amphitheater in Boca Raton, will feature top talent
in classical, opera, jazz, Latin music and literature.
The second annual event opens with wine and food
events (known as the Boca Bacchanal) on February
29th, and the lecture series kicks off March 7th.
Some
of the talent includes: The National Russian Orchestra
with soloists - acclaimed flutists Lady Jeanne,
Sir James Galway and soprano Renée Fleming
(she will perform at the close of the concert
on March 16 with the Russian National Orchestra).
The 5 Browns - A youthful, all-American quintet
of brothers and sisters, each a virtuoso concert
pianist, Lang Lang, who started playing piano
at the age of three and was the first recipient
of the Leonard Bernstein Award. Grammy Award winning
Joshua Bell, Jazz composer Chick Corea, Pat Metheny,
Gary Burton and Tiempo Libre.
