THE HEADWEAR ASSOCIATION IS FINALLY TAKING OFF THE LID OF SILENCE TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL OF WEARING A HAT

The Headwear Association just unveiled a national publicity campaign called “Headwear for the Homeless.” The association (THA) is teaming up with local shelters to distribute hats to those in need during the winter months.

THA members will donate more than 5,000 warm-weather hats including knit pull-ons, felt hats and bomber caps to shelters across the country.

“It’s a known fact that you lose as much as 80 percent of your body heat through your head. Because of that, wearing a hat that covers your head and ears is the best way to keep warm,” said Ashley Fichthorn, President of The Headwear Association.

As most of you know, The Headwear Association is the oldest association in the headwear trade and is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The THA is asking all members to sponsor a shelter in their area, and to donate warm hats to the homeless on Tuesday, February 5, 2008.

“This campaign is a natural fit for our organization and we’ve had an overwhelming response from our members to donate warm outdoor hats to a worthy cause,” adds Fichthorn.

I urge you all (retailers and hat vendors) to get involved. This is a wonderful idea (kudos to Susan, the new PR chief for the THA) and it will definitely bring in great press coverage and will warm your hearts as well. As you know, what you get is in direct proportion to what you give!
