FASHION SIGN OF THE TIMES FROM NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Emporio Armani

Although the New York fashion shows were only a few weeks ago, they seem like ancient history. The news being touted is now on the runways of Paris and the UK.

And this is what we’ve heard so far -

Fall clothes are lighter in weight, there’s lots of belts and ruffles.

Colors are rich with prints being the new solid. Houndstooth patterns are ready for prime time and faux fur makes everything new (and won’t piss off the PETA people).

Luxe detailing – be it embroidery, sequins or beading - is dazzling and unique. (This could the consumer’s response to an apparel trend that lumps all women together). With 600 stores alike and buyers being told what to buy, the customer is vying for something different.

Paillette sequins and Lurex make the day and feathers continue – especially on headwear.

This is what SanLuisObispo.com had to say about hats:

“No kidding. Never mind the knit caps for warmth: They are a style element. Betsey Johnson tapped into beatnik berets. Ralph Lauren's leopard print feathered tams pumped up the sophistication quotient. And fedoras and even Lawrence of Arabia billed caps set a mood. Hats are a small way to up your savvy image.”
