| THE DRAKE HOTEL
IS HAVING A TRUBUTE TO DIANA THE PRINCESS OF WALES

The Drake Hotel (a symbol of elegance for over
80 years) is hosting an Afternoon Tea (with informal
fashion show with hats) in Tribute to Diana, The
Princess of Wales in the newly renovated Palm
Court Tea Room & Lounge on Sunday August 30th
from 4pm to 6pm.
Twelve years after the Princess came to Chicago,
the Drake Hotel (where she stayed during her visit
to Chicago) decided to have a “Remembering
the Princess” tea commemorating that experience.
“London’s calling” – A
Tribute to Diana, Princes of Wales will feature
a slide presentation that incorporates pictures
that Holly and Scott Rodgers took of her with
voices from the Princess and others she met.
Since the Princess was a Fashion Icon from London,
it prompted the hotel to get hats for the event
from English milliner Joy Scott (of Joy Scott
Millinery). Scott’s fall hats will be showcased
at the event.
Guests will also be treated to an exclusive tour
of The Presidential Suite 550 where the princess
stayed.
The “Remembering a Princess” program
was first given by Holly Rodgers in 2006; ten
years after Diana, The Princess of Wales came
to Chicago. In 1996 Northwestern University sponsored
her arrival in the United States.
Scott Rodgers (Stuart Rodgers Photography) had
the privilege of being the ONLY photographer allowed
inside the “ropes” photographing the
Princess. His sister Holly assisted him and spent
three days following Diana, The Princess of Wales
as she visited hospitals, was honored at Northwestern
University and attended a Gala at the Field Museum
while staying at the The Drake Hotel in Chicago.
“Diana continues to live on in our collective
memory, even twelve years after her death. She
rose to the status of icon, even though her fame
was mostly unwanted. For a time she was the most
famous, most photographed woman in the world.
Her beauty, elegance and fashion-sense kept her
in the public eye and spawned a paparazzi industry,”
said a Drake Hotel spokesperson.
Tickets will be $30.00 per person plus taxes
and tips (for the three-hour show). For reservation
or inquiries, call Shaun Rajah at 312 932 4619,
Shaun.Rajah@hilton.com.
The three tiered Tea Service includes Live Harp
Music, Afternoon Tea Service and an informal fashion
show by Joy Scott Millinery.
