| THE ARTS ARE
ALIVE AND WELL IN MIAMI AT ART BASEL
This was the week to be in Miami if you enjoy
the arts. The Internationally renowned art event,
Art Basel took place in downtown Miami Beach.
The event - that attracts artists, art patrons,
celebrities and people watchers to the Miami
Beach Convention Center - has spread its wings.
There were more people (less hat wearers sorry
to say) and more art that bordered on psychological
malaise. There is also a burgeoning art district
North of downtown Miami called The Art District,
where galleries and shops are sprouting up.
This new art district is very hip and quite
avant-garde. Think Soho in the South. One gallery,
Urbanite, has a café, art galleries and
special events. There are other terrific galleries
and shops in this area known as the Wynwood Art
District of Miami. The demographic of this area
is ripe for hat wearers. You might want to see
if you can sell hats to the galleries to sell
as an art form.
