HAT CAMP 2009 IS COMING UP IN SEATTLE

If you want to partake in this splendid Hat Event, plan to attend Hat Camp on June 12, 13, 14.

This three-day event provides an educational and informational forum for millinery - and a celebration of the art of hat making for professional, semi professional and student milliners, said Wayne Wickern of Wayne Wichern Millinery

The event will include visits to several Seattle millinery studios, demonstrations and discussions. Attendees will host a public gallery event to coincide with the Ballard Art Walk (it will include an exhibit of attendees work and a live demonstration of blocking and hand felting).

Some points of interest are: HATBLOCKS - finding them, understanding their full use, working with woodworkers to revise or repurpose old blocks and designing new blocks.

Also discussed with be: New suppliers and materials, working with straw braid on home sewing machine or industry straw braid machines, current millinery trends, business changes for the year and a teachers/instructors forum.
