ARTEX KNITTING MILLS IS PROUD OF THEIR MADE IN USA HERITAGE (and who can blame them?)

After my article last week about the MADE in USA craze, Joel Cohen felt compelled to write a letter about American-made goods.

Cohen is National Sales Manager of Artex Knitting Mills. “In these times of economic stress, it’s hard to feel confident in your purchases. But the pride one feels in selling American made goods still exists. With the public now aware of foreign products flooding our stores they find it even more important to see that little phrase printed clearly on their goods: Made in the USA.

Artex Knitting Mills will always be there to make that moment a reality. We are one of the last, but certainly the largest American Manufacturers of knitted hats and accessories. We’ve been around since the 1920s and have lasted through two world wars and 2 economic depressions. You can count on us to be a reliable supplier and a partner in helping America regain its economic independence.

Our 80,000 square feet factory is populated by union workers. We not only adhere to the standards of our union but also to the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) organization. While many factories are shutting there doors, we are expanding our productivity and providing ever needed jobs.

Cohen also said that business has been up over last year. “As a domestic supplier our customer’s know we have goods available that can be shipped quickly so they do not have to wait months or weeks for the order to be shipped. Even in a distressed economy, accessories do well at the retail level.”

Cohen had this to say about trends: Hot styles for Fall 2009 are buffalo plaids in fashion colors, cuff-less jeep caps, hats with pom-poms and textured beanies. Our eco cotton (recycled cotton) program is chugging along- our goods can be found in college bookstores around the country.
