THE HEADWEAR ASSOCIATION KICKS OFF THEIR NATIONAL PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Broner Hats for Hat Day in the Sun 2008

The Headwear Association is launching Hat Day in the Sun on Friday, June 19th. Hat Day in the Sun is an annual public awareness campaign to educate people about the benefits of wearing a hat (sun protection, cancer prevention, anti-aging, etc.)

To celebrate the event, THA members will be giving away free wide-brimmed sun-protection hats across the country. For a list of cities and locations visit the THA website at: www.theheadwearassociation.org.

To make sure you are protecting yourself from the sun, The Headwear Association offers the following tips:

Size - A hat with a minimum 2 ½” brim can provide adequate sun protection for the neck, face and ears.
Shape - Hat shapes that protect better against ultraviolet radiation (UVR) are ones that curve down to follow the contours of the head and neck.
Material - The hat should be lightweight, breathable and a closed-weave straw, raffia, cloth, or felt.
