DORFMAN PACIFIC ACQUIRES CAPPELLI STRAWORLD

Dorfman Pacific recently acquired Cappelli Straworld of Miami. Cappelli designs, imports and manufacturers branded and private-label hats, handbags and accessories (average retail $18-$48).

“We are delighted to welcome Cappelli Straworld into the Dorfman Pacific family,” said Douglas Highsmith, Dorfman Pacific’s President and CEO. “Cappelli Straworld has maintained an impressive track record since it was founded in 1941. Going forward, their outstanding design skills combined with Dorfman Pacific’s sourcing and operational expertise will make it the perfect brand for retailer’s headwear and bag needs.”

Cappelli Straworld will remain a separate and distinct brand within Dorfman Pacific. Owner Operator Bonnie Rubel (who is the 3rd generation in this family business) will remain in the position as Vice President of Cappelli Brand. Bonnie (who has been with the company for 18 years) and her team are currently designing the spring 2010 line, which will be introduced in August at Surf Expo and WWD/MAGIC. Dorfman Pacific is in the process of opening a design studio in Miami for Bonnie and her team.

“All of us at Cappelli Straworld are excited to become a part of Dorfman Pacific,” said Ms. Rubel. “Dorfman’s scale, resources and unparalleled distribution free us up to focus on what we do best – designing and manufacturing the best resort handbags available. We are excited about the almost endless expansion opportunities that exist with Dorfman Pacific.”

Net Worth Solutions, a leading retail and fashion mergers and acquisitions firm in New York City initiated, negotiated and closed the deal.
