San Francisco-based milliner Jasmin Zorlu has a design sense honed by her eclectic background and creative genius. Bloggers say she fits the San Francisco bravado of singular eccentricity. Zorlu was born in Germany to an American mother and Turkish father and has lived in Italy, Turkey, Japan, Iceland, New York, and now lives in San Francisco.
"Jasmin Zorlu marches to the beat of her own drum. Her millinery aesthetic can be described as Art Deco blended with the Minimalism of Japanese design and the Modernism of Scandinavia."
She makes cocktail hats, fascinators, cashmere slouch hats; fur felt blocked hats and sculpted fish skin helmets. Zorlu hats are hand-sewn and are one-of-a-kind.
Blues singer Erykah Badu saw Zorlu's Molecular Mermaid Helmet when she walked by The Hat Shop in Soho, NY. Badu fell in love with the hat and ordered it right away. Zorlu's other celebrity clientele include Tom Waits, Neil Young, Kat Von D, and Bjork (Zorlu personally delivered the hat to her).
Going forward Zorlu is making Fish Skin fascinators in exotic European leather and hand-made evening clutches. She is also working on tie-dying cashmere sweaters and one-of-a-kind cloches, berets and turbans.

"In San Francisco, the fashion mantra remains: Style is all about the individual."
