Crown Oaks Day Myer Fashions on the Field Millinery Award.

Melbourne Hat designer Rebecca Share won the Crown Oaks Day Millinery Award. And we hear it is the most prestigious hat award in Australia. Share took the honors with a navy and white looped headpiece with deep red petal shaped detail.

“I’m Very excited; I won over $12,000 worth of prizes. Part of my prize is a trip for two to London flying on Emirates Airlines. We are planning to head over there the last two weeks of June and go to the Royal Ascot,” said Hayes.

Share is not only an award-winning milliner, but she has been involved in Fashion on the Field for over 10 years.

She studied Fashion Design at R.M.I.T in Melbourne and made an outfit to wear to the Races. When visiting Milliner Kim Fletcher to have a hat made she started talking about Millinery with her.

“Right then I was hooked and knew that this was my path. So I left R.M.I.T after the first year and began studying at the Melbourne School of Millinery, which is now run by Kangan Tafe. My Millinery teachers were Waltraud Reiner and Louise MacDonald.”

Share’s hats and headpieces are amazing examples of creativity and genius. Her passion for the art of millinery is relentless and extraordinary and is proof that we excel at that which we are most passionate about.
