
Lori Pollock
recently purchased HEASLIP, a
50-year-old woman’s Canadian Hat Manufacturer
in Hamilton Ontario. Pollock was formerly in the
medical industry, and is now teaming up with designer
Liz Harbosin to create a more expansive hat collection.
They are adding more spring headwear and are introducing
trendy styles to their already existing classic
collection. Heaslip’s goal is to expand
their US presence. They are also looking for US

Rapid Transit announces that David
Goldman (Peter’s son) recently
joined the company as VP-Sales Manager. David
was previously with the NFL.
Mike Klorer
is the new sales manager of TEXACE.
Formerly from the printing industry, Klorer has
taken over the helm of Texace from Jim Blugerman,
who has left the company. Texace is owned by Sansun
Hat Company, 800-835-8973.
Anthony
Dowdell recently joined Bollman Hat Company
as VP of Sales and Marketing of the Timberland
Headwear division.

Hat Company moved its NY headquarters
from the Empire State Building to 411 5th Avenue,
2nd floor.
Daniel Bollman
recently passed away. He was one of five grandsons
of founder George Bollman, who started Bollman
Hat Company in 1868.
Madcaps
founder Alfred Solomon passed
away at the age of 104. Madcaps was the first
domestic hat company to knock-off European styles
and bring them to the mass market. In 1920 Solomon
imported hat trimmings, but soon afterwards manufactured
a hand-crocheted hat. Solomon coined the phrase
“hat bars,” which were hat areas in
department stores.
The Rosenthal
Award was given to Gary Rosenthal
at the Headwear Association dinner on
March 17th. Gary won the award for his significant
contribution to the headwear industry. The award
was named after Gary’s father Ben.
