Vol.1 No.1 April 27, 2005

Unless you have been sleeping under a rock, you must know that the future Queen of England, (Charles’s new bride) Camilla Parker Bowles loves hats. Her wedding hat, by London milliner Philip Treacy, had gold-ostrich feathers and was tipped with Swarovski Diamond crystal. She also wore a cream hat with wide lace brim and off-white flowers. The entire wedding party donned outrageous hats that caught the eye of both the British press and US fashion watchers. Treacy has created hats for Madonna, Marilyn Manson and Boy George. Samuel's Hats in NYC carries a line of Treacy hats.

Young people are making something new out of a 60’s hippie fashion revival. Peasant skirts, chunky boots and floppy hats are part of a fashion trend called “Bobo style.” Mary-Kate Olsen has been photographed on campus at NYU wearing this downtrodden dumpster fashion statement. Young Hollywood starlets are also dressing down in fur-lined coats and hoodies, felt fedoras, hobo bags, cashmere thermal sweaters, washed brocades and Chanel tweed suits with frayed edges and unfinished hems.
