FROM
THE BOUDUOR TO THE BAR STOOL: In case
you hadn’t noticed, the newest trend for
ladies is to wear lingerie as streetwear.
Although this trend is not new, it is hitting
the streets with a vengeance. Often times women
and young girls look like they hit the road in
their night clothes, but we know better: it’s
just a fashion trend like all the others. I assume
the origin of this mighty nightie trend probably
came from Britney or Lindsey. With this in mind,
we want to alert you to a new line of apparel
and accessories making a debut at the upcoming
MAGIC Show in Las Vegas. For
those of you who are night owls check out their
opening at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino
from 11 pm to 1 am on August 29th. Creators Ivan
Kane and Champagne Suzy, known as the royal couple
of Hollywood and Las Vegas nightlife, are intent
on bringing back burlesque with their Champagne
Suzy Boutique. The Champagne
Suzy Boutique launch party is set to
take place directly in front of the Las Vegas
nightclub and boutique. The party will feature
a live performance by the famed Forty Deuce Trio
while the Forty Deuce dancers model the new line.
Guests are invited to attend a live burlesque
performance inside the venue directly following
the party.
The collection
includes HATS, such as Women’s
Knit Beanies in solids and racing stripes and
suede Trucker Hats in pink suede with white mesh
or black suede with red mesh with PVC Champagne
Suzy logo patch.
JAPANESE
KEEP IT COOL:
Here’s something from Japan that
might increase hat wearing: Japan will kick off
the "Warm Biz" campaign Oct 1st to promote
energy
conservation by encouraging business people to
wear layers of clothing to help reduce the use
of heaters, the Environment Ministry said. Under
the campaign, office workers will be encouraged
to wear knitwear, warm underwear and headwear
so that they can comfortably work in
an office with a temperature of 20 C. With oil
prices escalating it won’t be long before
we see this phenomenon happening on our shore.
STRIPING
IT RIGHT: The New York Times “On
the Street” column last month featured young
men wearing striped shirts in all colors and varieties.
Many of these young men had on color coordinated
hats and ball caps. If you can think of a way
to make rugby striped cap, head wrap or skull
cap, now is the time. Young men think about fashion
these days almost as much as they do women, who
knows maybe more.
