MUSICAL BOY TOY JUMPS FROM SINGING STAR TO DESIGN MUSE:
Justin Timberlake, boyfriend of Cameron Diaz and pop singer, is jumping into the fashion arena with a new clothing line called William Rast. The 60- piece collection for men and women consists of jeans, sportswear, blazers and outerwear, and will debut this fall. Described as a “little bit country with a bit of Hollywood” these better- priced separates will have an embroidered “W” logo on them.

Designed by Juan Cervantes with input from Timberlake, it was inspired by Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford. The women's jeans have metal-trimmed wooden buttons, the men's have leather buttons and both have a drop pocket "W" logo. Other touches include contrast stitching. His business partners are Trace Ayala and Danny Guez, who worked on Eve's Fetish and Bow Wow's Shago apparel lines.

The line will be in Bloomingdale's (in the window during the launch) and high-end boutiques such as Fred Segal, Kitson and Atrium on November 3rd. If all goes well, they hope to expand the line, adding HEADWEAR intimate apparel and men's suits. And if things go really well, they would like to open their own stores, starting in Memphis and Millington, Tennessee, where Timberlake grew up.

Headwear vendors might want to contact Timberlake executives for a chance to license their headwear line next year.

Uber Designer Zac Posen says HATS are one of the 10 looks we’re not wearing – But Should: In the fashion section of USA Weekend, Zac Posen, who is partnered with the infamous hip hop mogul P. Diddy, talked about hats in his fashion forecast. “HATS are a great expression of eccentricity and character. I like cloches and really large-brimmed hats.” He also lauds Vintage apparel, vintage jewelry and lots of color.

Fox picks up a Makins Hat for his cover story: Jamie Foxx wore a Makins soutache hat purchased from traffic in Los Angeles. His picture appeared on the cover of the September anniversary issue of Vibe magazine.

KAMALI GOES FOR THE KNOCK-OUT: Everlast Worldwide continues to sign licenses with non-athletic fashion trendsetters and just announced an agreement with its women's apparel licensee, Jacques Moret and fashion designer Norma Kamali. The new line will be a contemporary sportswear - lifestyle collection under the Norma Kamali and Everlast brands.

** I suppose if Isaac Mizrahi can design for Target Stores than it’s not too much a stretch for designers like Kamali to link up with athletic superstar of the cloth, Everlast.

DOUG BARRON CAMPAIGNS FOR SHADE: PGA TOUR player Doug Barron and Proderma have been donating sunscreen for the “Cool Kids Wear Sunscreen” campaign. Barron has competed in 12- Tour events with the campaign, donating over 7,400 units of Proderma sunscreen to local youth charities and junior golf programs. To lend visibility to the campaign, Barron wears “Proderma’s Cool Kids Wear Sunscreen” logo on his headwear, and distributes skin-cancer prevention information at tournaments. Barron also gives media interviews to discuss the Cool Kids Wear Sunscreen campaign, its educational goals and potential impact on children’s health. Barron is a longtime advocate of protection from the sun’s harmful rays. He is a champion of youth related charities and causes and believes convincing youths that applying sunscreen before all outdoor activities is the “cool” thing to do to ensure health and longevity. GET THIS MAN A HAT….
