Returning
to the Tub….filler Up.
If you happen to be driving down A1A
in Hollywood, Florida and want to return to the
good old days before the Internet, cell phones
and $6000 shower curtains, check out Le Tub. This
down- home Key West inspired restaurant was formally
a gas station, but was rebuilt in 1974. The owner,
Russell Kohuth, went to great lengths to retain
its gritty down- home presence by collecting toilet
seats, bath tubs and assorted bathroom fixtures
to make it comfy and authentic. Known for their
Sirloin hamburgers, this wooden space sits on
the Intercoastal waterways, and is a great way
to relax from all the hype of Hollywood. It’s
also the kind of place that makes you want to
down a few beers, eat barbecue ribs and burgers
and pretend that you’ve never heard of words
such as cholesterol or carbs. They also offer
crab legs, tuna, catch of the day, clams, salads
and New York Strip Steak.
What makes this
site so much fun is that it is surrounded by water
and gets the cool summer or winter breeze as part
of its inheritance.
Bring cash; they
do not accept credit cards or checks.
