LAS ANGELES FASHION WEEK GOES FROM SOPHISTICATED TO BOHEMIAN

Look for feminine fashion accents such as of ruffles, lace and flowers this spring. That’s what the LA Fashion market is predicting. “Look for fabrics, trims and accents that create a feminine aura. Spring’s mood is decidedly lighter than in past seasons, with tonal color palettes in white, cream and soft sherbet hues. Natural fabrications and handcrafted crochet styles are the answer to surface interest. Black is back (I’m not sure it ever went out, but I’m not in LA), creating sexy, dramatic looks and themes that border on gender bending.”

If I had to put in my two cents I would take note of the increasing demand for hair accessories that border on headwear. These items are not expensive and give the younger customer a chance to create her own style. At the Melbourne Cup in Australia young women wore fascinators, which according to the local media, is a hair accessory that sells for $30. Actress Sandra Oh was photographed wearing a feathery hair accessory - hat to the Diversity Awards in Beverly Hills last week. Apparently Oh’s look was a hit because the New York Post ran the same photo last Sunday.
