NEW ERA CAP COMPANY and HATWORLD/LIDS ARE TIPPING
THEIR HATS TO YOUNG PEOPLE WITH CANCER
NEW
ERA CAP CO. continues their non-profit Caps
for Kids program with retailer HATWORLD/LIDS.
The "Wear Your Cap to School Day," is
an in-school pediatric cancer awareness program
that encourages teens to raise funds for young
cancer victims. Launched in seven cities in 2004,
Wear Your Cap to School Day is
being promoted in 46 schools across the country,
with a potential student body of 34,000, up from
17,000 students in 2004.
The Wear Your Cap to School Day program encourages
Middle, Junior and High School students to participate
in 'tip of the cap' day in honor
of peers with cancer. With permission of the school
administrators, students are encouraged to donate
one dollar in order to don their favorite cap
to school on Wear Your Cap to School Day. Money
collected goes directly to Caps for Kids
to provide caps to young people within its program's
reach.
In August and September Major and Minor League
baseball teams promoted Wear Your Cap to School
Day by saluting Caps for Kids with pre-game events.
Caps for Kids participants joined players on the
field, met players and received signed baseball
caps at home games for the New York Yankees, Los
Angels Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers,
Cleveland Indians, Florida Marlins, Anaheim Angels,
Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers,
Buffalo Bisons and the New Orleans Zephyrs.
Hatworld/Lids also supports Caps for Kids annually
with in-store canisters and promotes Wear Your
Cap to School Day nationally with in-store promotions.
It gives coupon offers (through their Passport
program) for support until the end of October.
Caps for Kids is an international 501(c)3 non
profit organization with programs in 67 hospitals
throughout the United States; with 4 in Canada
and 1 in Frankfurt, Germany. The organization
is dedicated to giving caps and scarves signed
by athletes, entertainers and other notable celebrities
to children with pediatric cancer.
