HIGH PERFORMANCE FABRICS GET A NOD FROM FASHION
INDUSTRY EXPERTS
According
to an article by just-style.com, Nanotechnology’s
big potential in clothing, consumers
are looking for performance fabrics. “The
amount of clothing with performance attributes
will jump to 25 percent of the $170 billion US
apparel industry in the next five years, according
to NPD. Four out of five people search for performance
attributes when looking for fashion or casual
wear, reports Greenfield research; and 2 million
workers will be needed in the next 15 years to
support nanotechnology industries worldwide, according
to The National Science Foundation.
Many
apparel experts believe that the type of innovations
offered through nanotechnology applications -
stain, wrinkle, odor and moisture wicking -will
drive market revenues, spur consumer interest
in fashion and offer shoppers a reason to buy
clothing at full price. Nano-Tex
is using these particles to further enhance fabric
cause de resistance. Their NanoSphere,
a stain, water and oil-resistant finish, offers
many performance benefits. Nano-Tex’s
research has found that consumers want performance
attributes imbued in everything. Companies currently
using Nano-Tex applications are Gap, Hugo Boss,
Marks & Spencer, Rene Lezard, etc. Nanotechnology
treatments typically add five to ten percent more
to the cost of a garment.
