HIGH PERFORMANCE FABRICS GET A NOD FROM FASHION INDUSTRY EXPERTS

According to an article by just-style.com, Nanotechnology’s big potential in clothing, consumers are looking for performance fabrics. “The amount of clothing with performance attributes will jump to 25 percent of the $170 billion US apparel industry in the next five years, according to NPD. Four out of five people search for performance attributes when looking for fashion or casual wear, reports Greenfield research; and 2 million workers will be needed in the next 15 years to support nanotechnology industries worldwide, according to The National Science Foundation.

Many apparel experts believe that the type of innovations offered through nanotechnology applications - stain, wrinkle, odor and moisture wicking -will drive market revenues, spur consumer interest in fashion and offer shoppers a reason to buy clothing at full price. Nano-Tex is using these particles to further enhance fabric cause de resistance. Their NanoSphere, a stain, water and oil-resistant finish, offers many performance benefits. Nano-Tex’s research has found that consumers want performance attributes imbued in everything. Companies currently using Nano-Tex applications are Gap, Hugo Boss, Marks & Spencer, Rene Lezard, etc. Nanotechnology treatments typically add five to ten percent more to the cost of a garment.
