The Duchess of Cornwall gets a heads-up from fashion followers and Royal watchers in her blue feathered topper

THE ROYALS MAKE HEADWEAR BLUES NEWS

The Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla) got a nod from the fashion press when she appeared by her husband’s side in a blue dress with matching wide brimmed feather top Philip Treacy hat. After months of ridicule for her matronly fashion stance, The Duchess finally made a positive impression with the media and fashion press. The English press dubbed the hat, “an elegant headdress.” Regardless of the media’s obsession with the Royals, mere mortals are taking to feathering their headwear.

Camilla’s mother-in-law, the Queen of England, also made headwear headlines this week by choosing Philip Somerville Ltd. to design her winter hat collection in felt and silk. Somerville Ltd., located at Chiltern Street in Marylebone, makes hats for Joan Collins and Esther Rantzen and for Harrods and Fortnum & Mason.

Somerville also makes intricate feather hairpieces, which are becoming more popular with people who don't want to spoil their hairstyle.
